The abode of knowledge, Swami Vivekananda Library at Pimpri Chinchwad University are stocked with more than 10K of books and hundreds of print journals to ignite the wisdom growth of the students. Library is frequently updated with new books and other useful study material for students from diverse streams.

In our quest to make the Library management immensely convenient for the users, Pimpri Chinchwad University Library provides vital support complementing academic activities to students, researchers and staff. We arrange access to the world of information – whether online, multimedia or in print. In order to effectively capitalize on the opportunities provided by radical changes to technology, pedagogy and research practice, the library operate in a number of profound ways and work in partnership with faculty members to enhance student's research skill development, encompassing both information literacy and learning skills. The library now do provide effective research and learning environments with a user – focused approach which is the hallmark of PCU library.

Library at a Glance

Swami Vivekananda Library is completely automated facility with Wi-Fi, Access Control system Using RFID Technology. There is Self – Issue & Return system for issuing books and Book drop box for returning Books. The Swami Vivekananda Library is centrally air-Conditioned and the library operations are automated using the Integrated Library Management Software (ILMS) "KOHA".The Library is highly sophisticated with state-of-art facilities. It facilitates access to online resources as well as digital resources.

Further, to cater to various information needs of the users, the Library has subscribed to several e-resources such as EBSCO host, ProQuest various databases on EBSCOhost Platform, ProQuest Platform, JSSH (J-Gate Social Science and Humanities), JST (J-Gate Science and Technology), AIR Online, Manupatra. The University has taken membership of Resource sharing Consortium such as DELNET. Library offers memberships to current students and faculty members and follows the open access policy so that users can select their desired books.

Swami Vivekananda Library of Pimpri Chinchwad University has set up of 01 Computer Labs to access its Digital Library Section with All – in – one i5 Lenovo Systems, networked through internet connectivity provided by LIMRUS using high Bandwidth Leased Line. Above mentioned e-resources can be accessed from these platforms. In addition, Web OPAC, NPTEL online lectures and open source educational sites can also be accessed at Digital Library Section. Users can also take the help of staff members to download the articles.

Swami Vivekananda Library is having the collection of over 7K books with 1200 plus titles, print journals/magazines,and approximately 20,000 E-journals through subscribed databases.

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) can be searched through its software "KOHA" by clicking http://117.217.108.189:8081 where you can browse on the library collections. This also has MY ACCOUNT feature where your user ID is your System ID/ Employee ID. You can also search the OPAC outside the campus by using the above URL.

Open – access (OA) literature is free, digital, and available to anyone online. An open-access document has limited copyright and licensing restrictions which means anyone, anywhere, with access to the Internet may read, download, copy, and distribute that information. As with any scholarly article traditional or otherwise authors of an open-access article should be properly acknowledged and cited. Here we have come-up with an initiative to provide subject wise links of Open Access materials that will enable easy and quick access for literature search.
